Fins, The house is almost equal distance from both piers so I think topsail will be the one. They do make you pay to park by the hour at mercers and there should be less traffic and plenty of free pier parking at topsail. less people too.  How far is the ocean from your house? Its 3/12 to 4 hours from here in charlotte.

I agree with you the fishing is better on Topsail island anyway. WB has gotten way too Yuppieish. Even the friends I have from Wilmington go to Carolina Beach.

Come on now Fairlane you can't catch ersters there. I had good luck fishing piers at Myrtle Beach this time of year. I caught Speckled Trout. Fun to catch but suck to eat.

You can buy ersters there or at least I did once years near the ICW  bridge. My plan is to go to the pier with some fresh shrimp as bait and just see what happens. I only have a couple of days to fish on this trip so maybe I will be able to at least catch something decent to bring....We cant take our dog or we would stay longer and the dog has to have insulin shots and we have had to get someone here to watch her.

Fins I guest you check the bouge pier site . The live pier cam is cool and while checking the topsail beach site they give links to direct live pier cams for Kury beach,Cherry grove and some others. I think Bouge does have the most action.

Didnt have any sand fleas. I was trying to catch a small baitfish to use as bait to cast out into the deep water off of the private pier when I got the sheepshead in about 2 feet of water. I finally figured out that late at night the fish were more likely to come into the shallows after everything got quite. Too bad this was my last night and the only bait I had was some shrimp. The Surf City pier as you can see had little going on sunday around  noon. Thats the wife getting her feet wet . The shack is owned by my sister in laws friends who love for people to visit and stay a few days.
