Just another small problem to deal with - LOL
« on: August 19, 2011, 02:08:17 PM »
I did my monthly check of the Rodeo this morning -- oil, fluids, brake linings, tires, etc., and just for the heck of it I gave the tailpipe a good shake, Well, after the second shake, the tailpipe/muffler flange pretty much disintegrated.

Called the parts store and a new Walker muffler and pipe are on their way. This muffler and pipe were replaced three years ago; guess the winter salt really got to them.

At first I though it was rotted from the inside out, but the cat matrix and flanges looks fresh and clean -- almost like new!

This is was what came off --

This was one of those jobe where my scissor lift was not helpful; had to raise the ass end of the car to get at the muffler flanges.

Right now, I'm just having an adult beverage and waiting for my new parts to arrive at the store. I checked a lot of local outlets and no one had these things in stock. However, my local Advance Auto had a good Walker SS muffler in their warehouse and they guaranteed 5:00PM delivery -- that's a good deal!!

Cheers!!!

Yeah -- this is Virginia for Pete's sake. I'm quite surprised at how quickly this muffler and tail section rotted out. Not sure what to make of that -- except maybe that the parts were cheaply made.

Oh well!! What's another $250 bucks in the grand scheme of things -- LOL

At least I have plenty of beer and cigars  :lol3:

You guys have had a lot of snow the last few years. I suspect that may have contributed to the problem.

Most likely still that's a fast rust out even for up here.
