Vintage Olcott crack detector -- NICE!
« on: March 23, 2011, 07:34:00 PM »
This just showed up at the house -- it's a selfcontained "portable" crack detector -- think Magnaflux!
This one is vintage 1950's and uses a power supply that is built into the toolbox compartment (right under the Olcott warning label). The fact that it uses a seperate power supply is pretty cool!!! I love old equipment like this --- the stuff just was built to last.  thumbsup2

It came with some powder, a diffuser, and a funnel for filling the defuser. It's filthy, dirty, and grimy -- just the way I like it!!! :)
This one will get a little "Love" to refurbish it to useable condition.

Power supply resides under here --

Nice looking yoke --

Nice tin funnel, it ain't all stove in.
Part of the squeezebulb looks to be missing.

Hinge pin don't look right.
Double check the spotwelds on the handles those boxes hurt!

All true!! Sourcing that bulb may be a problem. Any ideas AP?
