I needed  little bit more reach while doing some sheet metal work. My regular slapper was about 3" too short, so I made this. Cheap HF pry bar out of my road box and a scrap piece of 1/8" plate.

Grind or cut the plate to size with some rounded edges so as not to gouge the sheet metal, and then make it pretty with a flap wheel

Weld the pry bar to the plate -- done!!!

Sand and shape the plate accordingly, and then put a slight bend in the edge to facilitate accurate center hits on the slapper plate

Clean it up a bit and polish the bottom

Total cost? a few bucks, and it works just as well as a $50 name brand -- Good luck!

Good idea there. I never thought of doing that.

Used it yesterday -- works pretty well on 20ga steel. Makes nice smooth metal out of cratered panels.

I need to make a couple of them up for the Volvo.  I'll need to find a couple of sacrificial pry bars first. No way I'll do that to my MAC's.

Got a Tractor Supply Store near you? They usually have 'em for a few bucks in their cheap tool bins close to the cash register.
